With 14 years of experience in fire service safety, training and public speaking, Lisa Burton is a longtime advocate for firefighter safety. Her present role is Manager of Fire Training for Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) where she oversees training for both MMA undergraduates as well as industry professionals through the Center for Professional Mariner Development.
Lisa serves as a Captain with Castine Fire Rescue Department in Castine, Maine and currently volunteers as the Everyone Goes Home Advocate Region 1 Advocate Manager for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. In that role, Lisa oversees the New England Region volunteer trainers who deliver programs to develop instructors to support NFFF’s Everyone Goes Home programs.
A Credentialed Chief Training Officer, Lisa works as an instructor for Hancock County Fire Academy as well as a state fire instructor with Maine Fire Service Institute. Lisa has presented a FDIC/Women In Fire Leadership Conference and Women In Fire International as well as regional and state level events.
Lisa holds a Master of Science degree in Emergency Management with a concentration in Management of Fire and Emergency Services from Eastern Kentucky University. Lisa previously worked for the University of Maine System as the Interim Director and Emergency Coordinator for the Department of Risk and Safety Management.
