Matthew Gardner

Matthew Gardner’s career in ocean technology started in 2000, when he took a class in ROV technology and began participating in the MATE ROV Competition a few years later.  In 2005, Matt joined the MATE ROV Competition as the Competition Technical Manager.  He helps to develop the missions every year, working with scientists and working professionals to take real-world ROV tasks and develop them into a variety of scenarios that teams of all levels can compete at.  Since the 2017 ROV season, Matt is also the regional coordinator for the MATE Monterey Bay Regional ROV Competition.   Matt is also the lead instructor for the SeaMATE ROV kits, creating many of the presentations, lessons and material used in the SeaMATE summer professional development workshops.  Matthew also writes the building instructions and lesson presentations for all of the SeaMATE ROV kits and kit sub-systems.  

 

Matthew Gardner graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a BS in Biology.
